It’s not too late to attend VinNEBRASKA 2018

Around a year ago now, I was asked by my friend Dave at The Winery if I would help out on a committee for VinNebraska (.com), a local non-profit that raises money for other very worthy charities. Having worked many years in non-profits but having tapered that off when my kids were born, I was eager to get back into this world and gladly accepted. I had no idea what I was getting into. What I found when I began attending meetings was a small team of dedicated, efficacious folks who love wine and love using their contacts in the wine industry to do something great for the local community. I felt honored to be in such a group, and excited for what I could help them accomplish. We worked together for the past year, meeting almost weekly, and this weekend the event is finally taking place.

Now in its twenty-somethings, VinNebraska raises more than a quarter of a million dollars annually. For the past three years, the partner organization has been P4K, Partnership for Kids, and in this time I have become familiar with their mission and impressed by the tremendous work they do in our community. I’m excited to help them have a terrific event this weekend, hopefully their best one yet.

The event itself will take place over two nights. This coming Friday night we’re at Happy Hollow Country Club, where people who purchased a table will be treated to an amazing dinner paired with incredible wine and a small auction. The following night, Saturday, we’re at the Hotel RL, where twenty-four winemakers will pour wines for attendees, and then a live auction will take place. It’s going to be amazing, and part of my reason for writing is that if you are in the area, you can still get tickets for Saturday night on the Partnership for Kids web page. I’d love to see you there.

Last night was our final planning committee meeting prior to the event. Friday and Saturday, I’ll get to see what this is all really about. I can’t wait, and of course, I’ll follow up here on my blog in due course. In the meantime, if you are in the general vicinity of Omaha and you were wondering what to do with yourself on Saturday night, I hope to see you there. It’s for a great cause, and the wines will blow your mind, I promise! Come say hi to me if you make it, please.

Cheers to doing good things with great people,
