Tonight, I tasted three of Patricia Green’s Pinot Noir 2014 vintage wines side by side by side at my favorite local wine bar. The major takeaway: Patty Green is making some killer Pinot in the Willamette Valley, and Oregon is lucky to have her. The other takeaway: just a reminder that you don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot. Of the wines I tasted, the lowest price point, the Reserve Pinot Noir, proved my favorite amongst giants.
Big by Pinot standards, this wine boasts some body, and a nice tannic structure. Notes of cocoa, cherry, sweet tobacco, and maybe a hint of cedar. Aromatic on the nose, dry and tight on the finish, this is simply a gorgeous Pinot Noir.
At $28/bottle, it’s well priced. 92 points on my scale. Highly recommend.
