Titus Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 – 93 Pts.

IMG_0471

The Titus brothers, Eric and Phillip, are doing really great things in the Napa Valley, just off the Silverado Trail. With the grapes Eric grow, Phillip, who also makes world class wines for Chappellet, is crafting some truly amazing juice.

We opened this bottle the other night, in honor of my son, whose first name is their last. Tasted by experienced wine connoisseurs alongside four other extraordinary Napa Cabs, words like “amazing” and “phenomenal” were nevertheless in use.  A gorgeous nose leads into a wine that is warm and so incredibly smooth, with notes of cassis and leather, forest floor and dark fruits, laced with light, dusty cocoa and almond notes, preceding a long dry finish. This is a complex, well-built Cab that has a lot to offer.

Anyone who complains about the 2011 vintage in Napa has clearly never tasted this wine. $50/bottle. 93 points on my scale. Highly recommend.
